SWAN is a stunning female calico who is as sweet as she is beautiful. It's hard to believe she is as nice as she is after being born into a feces/urine lined home of a hoarder with 58 other cats. (CPHS took 10 or cats, while other shelters took the rest.) Swan, and a few other cats, were placed in foster care to see how they would fare in a normal home environment. There were no litter box issues, most couldn't get enough affection from their foster mom, and they thrived almost immediately. In the beginning, Swan was more attached to the cats living in her foster home than humans, especially her friend, Carlisle, but any nice cat should do. She is just starting to adjust to humans and like the affection her cat friends thrived on right away. She would not do well as the only cat in the home, as it appears they had been her rock throughout her nightmare existence. She is soooo deserving of a loving home and will repay you in so many ways. Please stop by for a visit very soon with Swan and the other cats that came from a hoarder: Carlisle, Emmet, Aro, and don't forget sweet Hera - who lost an eye living in the home of a hoarder! Adoption processWe do not work on a first come, first served basis for our animals. We look for the best match between the animal and the family/person looking to adopt. We also will foster adoptable animals in homes in certain cases to make sure that animal is a good fit in that home prior to completing an adoption.Shelter locationYou can meet our adoptable animals at our shelter, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona on Tuesdays to Sundays from 12.30 - 4.30pm with extended hours to 7pm on Fridays. We are closed on Monday. We also have adoption events at our local Petco stores which we feature on our Facebook page.
